The guy that lives around the corner from me just picked it up last month. I've been waiting to see him on the street and finally this morning we were at the same light together. We decided on a 2nd gear roll. The V rolled him from 2nd and all through 3rd and then we shut down due to traffic. He rolls his window down and says: WTF? And then laughs and wants me to hook him up. He's an o.k. guy, getting bit by the bug, and will end up in my garage.

I don't think a C5 Z would even hang w/ his V...497hp?!?

I dont think a C6 Z06 would be behind his V.

if it was a white Z06 chances are that it was an '01 (unless it was the Ron Fellowes C6 Z06) and therefore the slowest Z06 produced to date, it all depends what mods are done or if someone had their painted white

Been there...done that. :D

Good kill. The owners really look disturbed afterwards. The one I raced tried me a dozen times with the same result. I think he was just in disbelief that he was losing to a four door luxury car. He's lucky I wasn't spraying yet, or he might have needed therapy.

c6 z06 didnt come in white. unless its the ron fellows addition - which means some moron wasted 30 grand on nothing. c6 does come in white tho. I know of one person who bought a c6 z06, and had everything taken apart and painted white.

You guys keep asking him the same question and he keeps telling you. It's a C6 Z06 (a ron fellows). The OP has a C5, TBSS, and CTS-V. I am sure he know what it is.

Either way bad driver or not.....It is a good kill. His CTS-V has some good power from reading his Sig. I would not put it past him if he beat it.

Obviously he's a moron that has an extra 30k to waste on his Z06. Maybe you should buy one? But then again, they only add 7k to the sticker, but I bet you knew that already, huh.

All I'm saying is that if this guy "raced" the C6 Z06, the driver of the C6Z must have been learning to drive stick, no matter how much power the V had. It still weighs 4000+lbs with driver.

Well, that would be a silly position to take. If you have a V putting down 540 rwhp and a stock C6Z putting down 435 rwhp, is there not some point where horsepower overcomes weight?

C6Z - 3150 lbs/435 rwhp = 7.24 lb/hp

CTS-V - 3850 lbs/540 rwhp = 7.13 lb/hp

Add a driver of equal weight and the lb/hp advantage goes to the V. Obviously, if the V had more hp, the advantage would be greater.

I'll try to get you a video in the next few weeks to address your doubts of a high hp V.

on the subject of power to weight..how are you guys cutting weight on your Vs? Hood? Wheels? Its just killing me how these Vs are not running the 1/4s they should for the Rwhp they have...

A CTS-V is not set up for the track...at all. I don't think anyone with a built rear has posted an ET yet. We're all six-speed cars, which isn't the best at the track. You can't put smaller than 18" rims on the rear, so you are limited on traction even if the rear was built to hold it. It's just not a good drag car.

I'm sure that if someone threw together a high hp V with a built rear end, big stall automatic and some tires that could hook it, we'd see better ETs.

I've got an F-body for the track. The V is for the street, but I understand your point.

Well, of course there is a point where the V will have the advantage. Maybe some of the opinions here are based on the OP's sig. which indicates a V with 497 rwhp. If that's accurate, then the hp/weight advantage goes to the C6Z06.

Weight goes to the Z, RWHP goes to the V along with gearing. Also, I've dynoed some c6 z06's that put down mid 430's in the real world, same dyno I've made 500 rwhp. Let's not forget the :drive:

Exactly. hp/weight numbers are close enough that the driver is key.
