Default My motor is seized. ****.

I'm about to get ready to go to work.....so here is the short story. I was trying to diagnose a mis-fire for a couple days. After testing various plug settings, I was out driving and I rolled the throttle into boost. It began missing, so I let out of it. I thought it was just idleing as I came to a stop but it was dead. The motor is seized and won't turn over. I pulled the plugs........no water, still won't crank by hand. I am so devastated (and broke) I could blow my brains out.

TSP 364 Iron short block BTW. I will pull the timing cover in a few days. Hopefully the chain just snapped or something.

hopefully it wont be anything too major...had something similar happen to a buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago...after a N2O test run it died right after and wouldnt turn over, so right away I opened the hood and started checking it all out, we found that his brand new batt had a couple bad cells in it. You shouldve seen the look of relief on all of our faces when she turned over! I hope it was something minor like that for you man.

I'm crossing my fingers its something small, until you pull the heads it could be anything from a broke rod to a dropped valve. Good Luck.

Are you sure it is seized? What happens when you turn the key? Does the starter even turn? Please give us some more information. You could have blown a fuse or something. Something could have came loose. Whatever your misfire was could have finally crapped out. More information on what happens when you try to start it. When the car came to a stop and you realized it was dead. Did you have it in neutral? I would think a seized motor would have stopped you dead in your tracks.

If it won't crank the starter is not working, timing chain is off or broken, or something like that.

Nobody with a FI setup is truly broke Problem is, FI takes every last penny you earn

Hopefully it's simple and you're back in the seat soon. There's one thing about going fast - you break stuff every now and then.

He said "crank by hand." That's not the same as trying to turn the motor over by hand. Well that is the way I am reading it. I have seen no one try to crank a motor by turning it over by hand.

You've never seen anyone turn an engine over by hand? All you do is put a wrench on the balancer bolt and turn.

Sucks about your motor, how many miles? Warranty?

People need to read my entire statement. I said I have never seen someone try to crank it by turning the motor over by hand. Turning the motor over by hand will not start the motor.

Yeah, I think everyone understood he wasn't trying to start the car by hand.

I think he was just eliminating a bad starter or electrical issue, verifying the motor is mechanically seized.
