Default putting ls1 in a 85 c10

I have a 85 c10. I want to put in a ls1. I already know to buy the motor mounts, painless wire harness & new gauge cluster.

What else do I need? Also, has anyone else done this?

Im fairly new around here, and not an expert by any strectch of the imagination but I would search around. From planning out my swap it seems that most swaps are identical only differences being mounts, and anything you change along the way. S&P may have mounts to fit your application, you will need a new (or modify your exsisting) trans crossmember. Search for any kind of swap to get idea's and info. If there is a truck similar to yours search for swaps concerning a similar modle. Not much these guys can help with without specifics.

Good Luck

I have an 85 that I am doing the same thing to. I went with a custom dropmember from PorterBuilt streetrods www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com
It came with LS1 mounts built on. What kind of tranny are you going to run? Do you already have the LS1?
This is an awesome swap by the way! Tons of room to work under the hood!

I have heard of this swap being done
Its no big deal. As far as your crossmember, just move it where you need it. Put your motor mounts where you want them, and bolt the trans member where ever it falls. Good luck.
