Tools & Fabrication - What type of jack??

For any of you guys that have a lowerd car with a ground effects package, what kind of jack/ramps do you use when you have to lift the car? I had to change my oil yesterday, and haven't done so since I lowered the car. My current jack no longer works because it can't get under the car. I had to take my front lip off to get it on some ramps. Any suggestions that would eliminate taking the ground effects off?

If you just need to drive up on the ramps, put some 2x12 boards in front of the ramps. It will raise the car a little before the front end hits the ramps. There is a good thread floating around with a few high dollar low profile jacks, but since the search sucks so bad these days, I can't find it. Those jacks are hella expensive. I was looking recently myself, since my other jack was pilfered by some degenerate thief. Anyways, I went to costco and bought an aluminum jack for $99. Apparently, costco has a return policy that you can return anything anytime you want. So it ultimately has a lifetime warranty. I was really surprised how low profile it was too. Its probably like 4 or 5 inches off the ground max and has a rubber pad to not mess up your frame.

It says it can lift 3000lbs so would it have no problem lifting my car since it wouldnt be lifting all the weight at one time?

I made drive up ramps using 4 x 4's and some lag bolts. Angle cut four 3 foot pieces of 4 x 4 and then bolt them together in pairs. I drive right up on them and change the oil at that height. No problems.

As for a jack, the Sears Craftsman aluminum is perfect. It is a bit pricey (almost $200) but it is VERY light and takes minimal pumps to get full extension. It is also low enough that it will get under the car without using the ramps (I have the Eibach Pro kit).

Typically just drive up on some boards before using jack usually easiest and most cost effective. Just make sure Ebrake or in gear when you let eht car down lol

I have a Torin 3 ton thats low profile got it at Walmart for $68 and it works good

So anyone know if a 3,000 lb jack could lift a 3,400 car alright since your not lifting the full weight at once?
