Are there any plans in the works for a similar setup for LT1 cars? There could be a good chunk of money to be made as the only stainless headers for our cars are the IMO overpriced Kooks...

We are thinking about making LT1 headers just not sure if there would be enough interest in them to make them.

If you guys made some, would there be anyway of making some bigger or maybe stepped headers and a good y pipe? Right now I don't know of any stepped headers for my car and I think something like the LS1 Edelbrock stepped headers (i.e. not a huge step, one that could be used on a non-stroker) would sell very well. If not, even just some good fitting 1 3/4" headers with a great y pipe would sell well too.

The headers alone are $425 shipped right now.
The O2 bungs in the Y are just for Wide band tunning.
We would have to wait until we did another production run to make one without the hanger bracket. I can be cut off ground down and repolished.

Are these based off of the Jet-Hot/Hooker/Pacesetter longtube headers? The reason I ask is because I need something that will work with my current exhaust set-up without major modifications. Thanks again.

Please pm me your contact information. Can I prepay for race style LT1 headers with bungs? I will not need them for another 3 months but I can prepay
black2002ws6
08-04-2007, 04:51 PM
We are not going to take prepayments. It's hard to tell how long it may be before we have a finish product ready for the marketplace. First off mockup models have to be made then test fitting and adjustments have to be made. Then probably more mockups. Then molds and jigs have to be made. And then a finished product can be made. It's a pretty time consuming process.

Oh sorry about that. Yes they are guaranteed to fit. Not sure what you mean about condition they are brand new. But as with any after market part some adjustments may be necessary.
To all buyers please take notice.
Some adjustments mean that you may have to cut and reweld the header or heat it up and bend it to get the y-pipe on. Also some k-member grinding might be necessary.
Quote from email sent to me... "So far we have sold over 75 of these packages and only had a couple of people have problems. One of them heated the pipes at the collector and pulled it down a little. The other had a small pie cut out of the collector and then pulled down and rewelded. As far as the K member a lot of people have had the same problem with all the other header manufactures. They usually just grind a little off the K member for clearance."
Please look at the pics to see what I mean by this!

The Y will go on. Thats why its flattened to clear the brace.
Why not do a search and see how many other headers may have some type of fitment issue. Not all cars are the same. My $1k+ kooks sat on the K member and almost rubbed a hole in them. Ive read QTPs with problems, Kooks, Pacesetter, etc...

Sorry that Bluesteel is having a problem. We have sold over 75 of these sets and only a couple of people have had problems and they worked them out.
Everyone knows no two F-bodys are the same. We worked hard to try and make these fit as good as possible and give plenty of ground clearance. But there may be some issues depending on your car. Evey header company deals with the same problems with their headers not fitting perfect on every car. We try hard to help everyone out with problems they have and reach a solution to fix the problem. Our customer service is Number One with us. Most other companys won't even answer your emails. We are on Tech every day to answer PM's and we try and answer our emails everyday.

I can't remember if this was asked or not, can the Y pipe be ordered without the flattened sections or do they not really effect the flow much?
Oh yeah, since you seem to have a lot of 3" stainless pipe, can we also order a section of that to use as a I pipe? What would it cost for a polished section of that maybe 3 feet long?

Any word on LTx headers?
SSAutoChrome sells on Ebay, may or may not fit as well as these. Also, having installed more than a few sets of LT headers on LS1s, ANY header is going to have either or both of these problems: not tucked tight enough, poor ground clearance, and/or tucked too tight, clearance issues on the bottom of the car/kframe. Pretty much all exhaust needs a bit of 'tweaking' to fit its best. Anyone who has worked on an fbody recognizes our stuff is ALL packed in there with little excess room.
One comment about this is important: I personally drive mostly on the street, so I'd stay away from SOLID motor mounts, but I will say that POLY motor mounts can help with clearance issues, especially if your car has a few miles and is still on the stock rubber mounts.

Sorry all the Y's have the flattened spots. They don't really affect the air flow.
We are working on some changes to them they should be ready soon.
I have a question about these headers, and its an honest question, not trying to knock the headers.
Were these headers designed from scratch by testing different flow designs, or were they copied from an existing header?
Either way is fine with me because the price is outstanding.
If they were designed from scratch, why no HP/TQ numbers?
Thanks
black2002ws6
11-02-2007, 07:09 PM
It's my fault there is no HP/TQ numbers. I used my own car to install the mock up headers on and cut and adjust them to fit then they used the mock ups to produce the finish product. I never did a before and after dyno to get numbers. I even offered a couple people buying them a discount to do a before and after dyno but neither one ever did.

Will they be stepped?
I want some. Pricing? PM or post, either way. I'm willing to wait to put the new motor in for stepped LT stainless for around 500 bucks with Y pipe.
I have stockish (3.73, built 4L60e) 94 Z28 with Hooker shortys (or might be able to find some stock manifolds) now, and 847 cam. I'd consider a before/after, but since the engine is out of the car at the moment, and it's SO much easier to do the headers out rather than in, it'd have to be a fairly good deal. black2002ws6,
I called to order brand-X headers today...and got interrupted at work just before dialing the last number. Glad I didn't try to call back :)
I am ready to buy a stainless LTx long tube/Y-pipe combo immediately. Just say the word!!
Please keep us posted! As someone else mentioned, I will pre-pay if needed.

Oh yeah, since you seem to have a lot of 3" stainless pipe, can we also order a section of that to use as a I pipe? What would it cost for a polished section of that maybe 3 feet long?
I'm ready to order my set, but I still need to hear back from you about the extra length of polished 3" pipe.
I have no clue where to get it besides you guys. Then all I would need is a polished stainless muffler to have the perfect exhaust. :pimp:

Well we got the first sample done but I didn't like the way a couple of the pipes fit so we are redoing the jigs to make another sample. Sorry for the delays but want to make sure everything fit as good as possible.

Also checking on selling extra lengths of pipe. We have never sold pipe that way so have to check on doing that.

Hoping in the next 30 to 60 days.
You've been saying that for over 6 months.
I just bought a BEAUTIFUL set of stainless steel headers. They are made by Kooks, and fit, finish, and performance are all excellent. Oh yeah... they also come in quite a few different configurations, including stepped race and emissions legal. Do they cost more than the supposed initial price of these? YUP. Are they proven? Yup. CAn you buy a set USED for a reasonable price? Yup... and resell them for pretty near that same used price down the road if need be.
I suspect this "stainless LT1 headers for around 500 bucks" deal is going to end up being vaporware like the Edelbrock LT4 intakes. Advertised for years, never actually available until no one cared anymore.
Dude, I wish you the best of luck... but I DO have a suggestion for you. Find a REAL header company to work with. Almost ANYONE else could have designed a functional LT1 header from scratch by now... the guys you are working with can't even seem to correct their own existing design in any reasonable length of time, despite a clearly demonstrated market. Oh... and since Summit manages to sell a multitude of headers for right around $100 in painted steel... I really don't think decent stainless for around 500 is all that amazing. (Maybe if they'd spend less time polishing the stainless, they could get their butts in gear on the design corrections?):bang:

I Agree No Reason To Bash A Sponsor. I Understand His Frustration. I Have A Co-worker That Has Been Dealing With Carl And Following The Thread. I Think The Guys Are Just Wanting An Honest Answer From The Sponsor. When Are They Really Going To Be Ready For Sale? Sounds Like He Has A Great Product And My Friend Would Like To Buy A Set. Please Pm Me If We Can Get Some Better Info, Or Post For All Patiently Waiting.

Ok first off the reason we can sell the headers at the price we do is because we don't make a whole lot of configurations. We make what most people want to buy. The companys that make every configuration possible have to charge more for each set to make up for all the header they make that don't sell.
As far as you talking about the LT1 headers your in the wrong thread to be talking about them. If you look in the right thread you will see that all my work is paying off. The next sample is on the way to me. Look here:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=760906
Now you have to understand I am only a single person working with a header company to make a better quality product for a more reasonable price for my fellow LS owners.
I make a mock up in my own garage and send it to them and they make it and send it back to me. Then I make any adjustments to it that are necessary then send it back to them and then they make another set and send them back to me. All this takes time. All I do it all to try and make them as perfect as possible.
Now if your happy paying $1000 for a set of bare 304 stainless headers then more power to you. If you would like to pay $450 for a set of 321 polished stainless headers then contact me. Higher quality stainless and less than half the price. An if you don't know the difference between 304 and 321 stainless I suggested you do a search to find out.
And I would like you to show me what LS1 painted steel headers you can buy for $100.
black2002ws6
02-09-2008, 09:52 PM
And for catpue sorry we don't make the emission header anymore because they don't sell very well so to keep cost down we don't have them anymore.

Ok I also forgot to post in this thread that I did receive the first sample of the new LS1 headers and y. I had a problem with the headers and sent them back to be redone but the new Y is perfect. Here's a link to the pictures I posted of the new Y:

well from what I can tell I will have to go get a set of big $$$$$ kooks :( I have to have air tubes to pass in NH. Is there any way i can get the parts and have a local fab shop weld on the air tubes for me?
JasonWW

Why don't you just transfer the stock air tubes over to the headers? Drill a hole, stick it on and weld it stainless to Stainless. Should be easy.
