i bought a simpson bandit from summit. very nice and comes with a helmet sock so you can just store it in the box without it scratching. the main thing, other than safety, is to have one thats comfortable. if you hate it, you will avoid wearing it.

I got my helmet at wal-mart. It cost me $78 plus an additional $14 for the black visor. It's even a Bell. Will post a picture soon.

It's a little dirty, and the lighting in my room was extremely bad. Those are just rough pictures, and it looks a LOT better in person than by what those pictures show.

I have worn HJCs for years (I am a motorcyclist) and prefer them over the Bells I had before. JMHO.

Every time I get a new motorcycle helmet, I demote the old one to track duty. Using an old Arai right now.

Hehe. If you like, I can post a picture of the padding. I use it for auto-cross events around the state once a week, and think it is great@!

I guess if you feel your head is only worth $60 then spend $60 for a helmet...
Being from the motocross world I spend the extra$$$ for a helmet...I mean afterall you need your head don't you?
Hence the reason I run an Arai...

If I was riding a motorcycle I may consider stepping up to a higher dollar one, but for now, my Bell helmet does just fine.

I use my old motorcycle helmet. Full face. I feel like I cant drive the car right with it. It got me the last time at the track as it had mold in it from sitting in the garage. I had to wear it there was no turnin back when I got there.

The one thing you will have to look for is the rating on the helmet. depending on how fast you are running and what track you might need one that has a Nomex lining. Snell SA2005 rating or SFI approved are required at some tracks when running 9.99 or faster.
For those Speed Inc. has had the best prices that I have found.

I get mine from the guy who hands them out at the strip. Always fits! Don't see any problem with that!
