Not the A&P guys. I have been thinking about going in early next year in the structures type of work threw the Air Guard. The millitary said I am color blind so no Crew Chief but I am thinking about asking the base doc for a waiver, I have been told by many that they can do that for GUARD/Reserve but you can't for active.
Its called the RAW test, you prove that you can see the colors and you get the waiver. Meps failed me on the color book for when i tried going Blackhawk crew chief, funny thin is that as far as I know ALL aircraft wiring is white and numberd. Even the OLD 727's I work on that were built in the 70's and 80's are not colored.
I do know that the structures job is not color restrictided, IE don't have to have normal color vision.

It's not bad. You have to be creative sometimes. Alot of times the work you do is based on guidelines and you decide how to do the repairs. I did it for 13 years and now I now fly UH-60 Blackhawks. It was fun.

I've never heard of someone getting denied being a crew chief because of color blind. That's crazy. Most if not all of the wiring on the C-130 is white. The c-17 is a little different because the engine instruments change colors. I don't know if Blackhawk's are the same. That's about the only reason I could think of you getting denied

They told me word for word the crew chief was normal color vision because or wiring and stuff........ yeah its retarded.
They said no to SP/MP because I could not see the differnt tracer colors but I have seem them a lot and can tell them apart clear as day. Mine is in a few shades of LIGHT pink and I think a shade of LIGHT green and its the colors next to others shades of the same color.
