Default SLP CAI - Sealed airbox or not?

I just installed my SLP CAI last week and used the rubber gasket to seal the opening in front of the airlid in the picture below. Should I have done that or do most of you leave that slot open when you use the CAI? There was a definate increase in SOTP accerleration and smoothness but I am just wondering if I would be better off without the sealed airbox. I have a non-WS6 TA.

Thanks

I sealed mine off. If you don't have a 'ram air' hood I see no reason at all not to block it off. If I could figure out how to do it w/o having it online I'd show you the picture of mine, oh well. Sealing it off helps to slightly pressurize the air at speed, supposedly.

Thanks for the input.

I was thinking that there would be less heat going to the intake if the airbox is sealed but I was just trying to see what others did with it.

The throttle response has really picked up and I am surprised at how fast the revs build now.

Thanks again.

I've had a SLP CAI an my car for several months now and I never used that piece to seal off the box.

Maybe I should do it now. Hmmm....
