ls1 thermostat in a 5.3 truck???

hey guys.. im fixing to help a friend of mine mod his 5.3 truck.... i have a 160* thermostat for a ls1 that i am gonna give him.... i was wondering ...will it fit.????...has anyone tried it.????thanks

depends on the year. if his is the one piece housing and stat, then yes. some year trucks had the thermostat and housing separate.
