Question connecting rod length ?'s

I was just wondering about connecting rod lengths and if they are particular to a specific LS motor. I know there are the 6.098 length rods and the 6.125 length. I'm in the process of purchasing parts and want to get the proper combination of rod and piston. I'm assuming that the deck heights of the differant LS blocks are the same and that the differance is in the wrist pin-to- top of piston dimension. I was looking at getting the 6.125 rods with the appropriate piston(for the 6.125 rod) but am not sure if they will work in my 5.3 block. The block will be bored to 5.7 spec (3.898) to pretty much convert it to a 5.7. So any thoughts.

they should as long as the deck height is the same.. that I am not 100% sure on.. be sure that the sleeve length can accomodate the stroke, as well as the oil pan.. but I honestly don't know alot about 5.3's and I will be watching this thread

The 5.3's have the same stroke as the 5.7's just a smaller bore. i guess i should quit being lazy and pull the 5.3's bottom end apart and take some measurements then call mahle and get some specs on their pistons. I just don't want to have the piston try to knock the heads off , cause that would suck !

stock ls1 pistons are .007 out of the hole if you needed that info.. and yes, kissing the head would suck!

Get some Mahle 3.905" pistons and Compstar 6.125" rods... these will work out fine. I have done a couple 5.3l block this way for truck guys not wanting to upgrade to a 6.0l block.

Part #s:

Mahle: LS1314905F04
Compstar: CSC6125DS2A2A
