Default Corsa Muffler problems? Strange Noise!

I installed a compete Corsa Catback this spring along with Kooks 1 3/4" and ORY. I was suprised by how loud this setup is, jury is still out on wether it is to loud. I have been reading in the archives some of the problems that people have been having with these mufflers and was hoping someone who has experienced this could give me some insight. I have noticed two things about my exhaust. First and foremost, IT IS GETTING LOUDER, anyone who heard the car when it was first installed (about 4k miles ago) and now will agreed with me. Is this normal? Secondly, over 5k RPMS at WOT you can hear a "surge or waiver" all the way to redline. I have logged multiple WOT pulls on HPTuners and there is no change in engine rpm, spark advance, or AFR this leads me to believe there is an exhaust issue. I did not notice this "surge" noise until just recently (within the last two weeks) All mods are in sig, car only has 28k. If anyone has any input please let me know, the surge noise is driving me crazy!! Thanks in advance!!

It happened to a guy in my town also.I guess they have some major baffle int he muffler that just gives out or comes apart. You should contact them and tell them they are making some not so great mufflers for a really high price

Thanks for the input, I will put in a call to Corsa this morning and see what they have to say. Any other input experience with Corsa mufflers?

I've not had any trouble with mine, the good news is that exhaust has a lifetime warranty and they will replace it free if you are the original buyer.

Weezzer, I see that you run cats which I do not, but is your car abnoxiously loud?

Mine changes sound somewhat at high rpms but I don't think it is the sound you are referring to. It just gets evil sounding.

As to the loudness, I have cats and it probably helps. With just headers and catted-y I thought the sound was just about perfect. The cam made it a little louder than I would prefer but certainly not obnoxious.

It must be the cats that help quiet things down or I have a problem with sound control in the muffler itself. With mine when driving down town St. Paul at around 3k. RPM's and snap the throttle it will set off alarms of the cars parked on the street! Does anyone have a Corsa muffler with headers and an ORY that can concure this is normal?

I remember reading posts about problems with the welds inside the muffler a few years ago - but like said above, comes with a lifetime warranty and they honored it in those rare cases. Corsa will sound completely different between having stock cats or no cats and offroad Y pipe.

See, that just makes me laugh when that happens.
