Default Windshield weatherstrip

Got an odd problem on my car with the windshield weatherstrip. I noticed my headliner sagging in the back so i took it out today and noticed that the front left (right above my head when im sitting in the driver seat) was damp on the headliner. when i removed it i noticed water was dripping into the car. When i first bought the car i noticed (right in the same area) that the weatherstrip around the windshield was sorta raised up and upon further inspection after removing the ttop i could see the paint bubbling right up at the edge where the roof meets the windshield. So putting 2 and 2 together im guessing that raised part of the weatherstrip really is a problem. My question is has anyone taken off the weatherstrip around the windshield? Do i need to remove the windshield to get it off? Seems like i cant get away from camaros that need headliners and leak. I did the windshield in my old 92 camaro but this ones alittle wierd.
