Default couple L92 assembly questions

Ok, I've got my L92 head bolt kit on order from Texas Speed and Performance, but I also need some thread cleaning chasers (i think they're called). What size do i need to order, and is there a sponser on here that has them?

Next simple question. I'm about to order the intake package from SDPC (L76), do I need any gaskets or are they pressed into the intake? Last question.... forgive my ignorance, but is there a valley cover that goes under the manifold I need to buy before I can install the L76?

I hope I used the right terminology... Also, I'm just mocking up the motor right now, so if these questions seem stupid thats why.

-I was not aware that L92's required special head bolts. ? Are they just new head bolts being used for your L92 swap, or are they actually different from any other head bolts?

-Should be able to use a tap to chase the threads. I've also heard of people using the stock head bolts with solvent. Make sure the bolt holes are dry before torquing down the heads, or you stand a chance of hydro-locking them and cracking the block.

-I believe the L76 intake comes with the pressed-in rubber gaskets. Ask when you place the order. If they don't come with them, I'd be surprised considering it comes with everything else (injectors, fuel rail, TB etc..).

head bolts are block specfic.

valley cover for what ever engine you are using will work.

L76 intake has gaskets in it already.

ok, but is it necessary to put the valley cover on before bolting on the intake? ...remember this is just for mock-up. I'm not gonna be torquing anything down tight either.

Also ARP says that using a tap instead of a chaser can re-cut the threads and lead to stripping them out.

Default Cleaning out Bolt Holes

Use an old head bolt and grind a groove into the side. Put some grease on it and the run it in and out a few times, cleaning the junk off every time. I also used a shop-vac to help clean out the holes first. I use a light to look into the holes to make sure they are clean.

You will not need a valley cover for mockup work, but it would be good insurance to keep stuff out of the engine.

My L76 intake (complete) from SDPC cam with the gaskets installed.

Like SUTTERERMAN85 said, head bolts are block specific.

Good Luck,
Bob K.

Or buy a $5 bottoming tap and do it properly.
