416Ci cam choice
I am building a 416ci motor with the l76 intake and l92 cylinder heads i need help choosing a cam for the car, i currently have 3 cam choices could any one help me decide out of the three i should go with or suggest me another cam thatmay suite my application better. The car is going to be street and strip but i do want it to be drivable on the street, more of a weekend and cruise night car, i also want the car to idle pretty good.
1st cam 224/236 581/602
2nd cam 224/232 585/590

What are the details of the car? What are you using it for (daily driver or track only)? Do you have to pass any emissions/sniffer testing? Auto or six speed car? Gear/stall?
You people are just picking the biggest cam without any clue of what he needs. Ask some questions or it's the blind leading the blind!

So what are you using it for? What gear do you have out back? any emissions testing you have to comply with?

im putting it into a 99 z28 t-top 6speed, with 3:42 gears out back.
i want this car to be weekend and cruise night car. once in a while i will be driving the car for a week or so. i live in new york and was told that the car doesnt have to pass any sniff tests they just check to see if any lights are on. i would like the car to idle pretty well i kinda wanna avoid having the car sound like a full blown race car that sounds like its gonna stall whenever you let it idle.

with all those cubes 1 and 2 are going to be on the small side, and really depending on gearing, trans, vehicle weight and so on the 3rd cam choice might even be on the small side. if it was gonna be a daily driver id say stay mild, but for a weekend toy id get the most power you can with the cam without going too crazy. i know guys who daily drive the HPE S-cam (238/242) in their GTO with only 364CI, heck my buddy daily drives his 245/250 cam in a 347CI. id do alot of research on what cams make the best power with the l92 heads and then find someone with a big cam and ask to drive their car...best way to know how driveable a cam is
edit ok just saw your last post, id consider a shorter gear ratio...373 gears arent bad at all with a 6 speed and make larger cams more driveable...more cubes make bigger cams feel smaller and easier to drive...sounds like you need a custom grind from someone who knows alot about building motors to really suit your needs

In that case I'd go with #3....or even consider the GMPP Stage 3 camshaft which is:
233/276 @ .050 .595/.595 (1.7) / .630/.630 (1.8)
233/276 @ .050 .595/.595 (1.7) / .630/.630 (1.8)

What's the static compression? Do you know the rest of the cam specs? If so use it to calculate the dynamic compression of the 3rd cam. If it is good that is the one I'd go with.
