Default SS hood modification

All,

This has probably been asked before. I can't seem to find any info on this modification. I have an SS hood with a lid. Is there any modification that can be done to increase air flow for a better Ram Air affect. The Ram Air Trans Ams seem to have a more efficient setup. Two ducts straight into the air filter. SS hood bends an comes around to multiple small oblong holes. Any info would greatly be appreciated!!

Thanks!!

I can't help you out with that one, but I can tell you it's going to be something if you can locate a CAI kit.

Just forget about it and purchase an FTRA or simular. I am all about functionality but look at some of the install university info on the SS hood (how it heats up which warms the air and is not very effective at higher speeds) and you will see that it is better to go another route.

The only hood you can buy for a Camaro with a true RAM-AIR effect is the Ultra Z hood and almost no one will buy them due to price and quality issues. Possibly looks.

I have the Ultra Z hood and the taller airbox from a TransAM. I can't say it made any difference in performance because I didn't use any instrumentation and the pants meter says not much improvement. The intake temps are vastly lower highway, city, and parked.
