Default All Storker LS1 Cars Need advice

I have finally gotten the money together to do my car the way i want it and I am really looking into a stroker/blower setup. I was wondering where everyone got their motors. I know some of you surly built your own but for me I no longer work at the shop ad don;t have the time nor place to do my own work. I knoe texas speed and speed inc both offer assembled storker Ls1 engine who else is a good source for them?

Also since i am going with a blower I really like the iron 408 setups anybodyusing one? what are your toughts likes / dislikes

thanks
Dusitn

There are a ton of us that are running an iron block 408 or in my case a 409. Check the forced induction section it may be better as far as your setup will go. On the other hand there are great sponsors on this board that can build you a great motor. Texas-Speed is definitely one of them. Vengeance Racing is another one. Scoggin Dickey has a great reputation on here. Just look you will find someone that you like.

I really like the TSP Iron 408 Long block. Is there anypoblems when switch from a alum. to iron block. Does everything bolt up right such as motor mounts accessories what about header clearances? Is it the same size as an alum block? smaller bigger?

I am also between a rock and a hard place as to what heads to get. I know the expensive ones are good such as AFR/ ET but thoes PRC are just so darn cheap they are hard to resist

The only problem I can think of,besides weight, is the alternator mounting. You need to drill and tap a hole in the front of the block for the alternator. It really isnt that big of a deal though. You shouldnt have any other problems besides that. Everything else will bolt up. I believe that it is the same size. As far as heads go you hit the nail on the head. AFRs are great along with the ETPs. It comes down to whatever you can afford.

Right now it is going to be naturally aspirated but a couple months down the road we will be adding nitrous. The motor is almost done being built. We are hoping between 460-480 at the tire. Unfortunately we have an automatic unless the numbers would be higher. The fast 90/90 obviously would free up more air for the engine.
