i pulled mine ou of the top with the trans connected, i had to take the front nose off so I could get the picker in far enough and I made up a lift plate to bolt to the valley pan. I also just took it out through the bottom with jacks and jackstands. Its a little more nerve racking but 3 times faster to pull it out the bottom. the bottom of the K member was 30 inches off the ground and I have the back up slightly

Just look around, it's really not that bad to get it out of the top. Take all accessories off, i pulled my balancer to help. Intake has to come off, coil packs all wiring of course. Pull the tranny before pulling it up or it's a little more of a pain. I had the motor out in a day working by myself, leaving the trans in the car. Without the trans it'd have been a little better.

why do it that way, jack the car upp as high as you can, put something under the wheels, and put it down as it sits on it, loose up the k member a little bit, jack the car up agen, take the things that you putted under the wheels, let the car down, take the k member bolts out and jack the body upp agen, and the engine/k meber stays on the flow,
i i could express my self better in english i would uset more accourit word, but i hope you get the hange of it

From the bottom might be easier but i didn't have the means to get it up that high in the air so i took the motor outa the top. Also i know you can do it with the balancer on i just took it off to make it a little easier. I really dont know what all I had to take off, i just unbolted everything i could see that i thought would get in the way and pulled it out. Kinda explained itself as i went. Just make sure to get all the ground wires off the block or you'll get hung up. Also take the little plastic "cover" pieces for the transmission that are bolted to the block. I forgot one and it got hung up and broken into a few pieces.
Other than that however, like i said it's pretty simple over all. I'd never done it before in an Fbody and it went VERY smoothly. Only real issue was the picker I used to pull the motor didn't have a long enough arm to reach from the front so i had to initially pick the motor up from the passenger side (removed the wheel) and then spun the picker around the front when it had room.
GL man,
