Default Eratic oil pressure after H/C install

It took a while to build pressure when i first started it but then it rose up to about 40psi. Then while it is running it will jump from 40 straight to like 20 and sometime almost to 0. Think this could be a bad sender?? Possibly that I bumped it wile putting the motor back in??
Also is there any way to hook up a standard mechanicle gauge to check it???

Thanks
Josh

did any dirt or a gasket partical get into the pump this can mess them up? Did you change the pump or the timing chain? If so you may have screwed up the o-ring on the pickup tube.

You could have possibly cracked or damaged the oil sender during your install. I would remove the intake manifold to inspect it and check your oil level of course!

The oil pump was a new LS6 unit that was ported according to the "LS1-LS6" book. It was cleaned prior to install. Also the pick up tube and pan were clean as can be also, both were out with the motor out. Also the oring was in perfect condition and no cuts or nicks, went in correctly also.

I am going to get a new sender tuesday Joe and hope that takes car of it. If not it looks like i will be tearing back into it.
