Driving down the road with the radio decently loud my music hits a part where it has alot of bass and then all of a sudden the volume completely cuts off and i have to turn it down then back up to get any volume again.
Anyone have any idea what this might be and what the fix for it is? Thanks.

What is your set-up? Stock or aftermarket?
What that sounds like is undercurrent/undervoltage protection. Basically when the bass hits hard, it draws alot of current to the point the voltage drops down to about 10v or less. It throws the amp into protection since wattage is IV Current x Voltage. If you drop the voltage, the current must go up to keep up with the dB demand of the amp. Too much current will kill a piece of electronics.

your cd player= trash, more than likley, unless u wanna try to take apart the circuit board and try to find the problem. This happens with aftermarket units as well.
