Default BHP???

How is this measured? What is it?

All I could find is that it's brake horse power.

i kinda wondered what it meant to, my guess would be base horse power. how much horsepower the engine itself makes. so if your car is rated at 305 hp take 15 percent for drivetrain loss and thats your rwhp. (estimate)

well base horsepower was a good guess. i agree, i think its wat your car is rated at, 98-00 (305hp) 01-02 (310hp) before drivetrain loss.

BRAKE horsepower. It's measured at the crank with full accesories. A stock LS1 is rated at 345-350 BHP.

Doesn't it have something to do with an engine dyno being referred to as an engine break in some parts of the world? Either way it's the same thing as fwhp.

the ls1s were all under rated and all make about 290-310at the wheels stock depending on setup....they are really more like 350+bhp...for some reason the vettes were rated correctly but the fbodies werent......

98-00 had a better cam and the01-02 cars had ls6 intake and better exhaust manifolds but got the smaller truck cam...so hp is close to the same......

search around on the topic its very interesting....

You, sir, are absolutely correct. The "brake" measurement on the dyno is where the term came from.

+1 Maybe chevy did not want the Camaros hp to be rated close to the Vettes for selling reasons...... Maybe.
