Default Can I drive w/broken oil sender??

Well, I became a member of the "broken oil pressure sender" club.
Can I drive without til the new one comes??? From searching and reading on here it seems to just affect what the gauge reads. If thats all I can live without it for now. The reason I am asking about driving without it is, I have been without it for 4 weeks now and I am moving 1400 miles away on Tuesday and that would be the day it will come in. I would really like to give it a thorough going over before I leave.

Thanks.

Just pick one up at your local parts store, or pay a little more at the stealership.

I dont understand the pole but all that keeps oil from blowing out is that little plastic diaphram....I would not drive it ....if that diaphram comes out your gonna loose oil fast and could ruin your engine....JMO

broke mine in half changing the manifold out and it drove fine for 2 weeks . . . till i punched it and busted the diaphram. i had just enough oil to fill the filter left in my engine, thankfully i didn't blow it. my advice don't drive it till you replace the unit

Is this the thing that everyone talks about when swapping to the ls6 intake? Why is it so easy to break, sorry for hijackage.

I broke it too, so I'll tell ya why it's so easy to break. There is a big vaccum hose that runs from the back of the intake over to the brake booster. You have to leave that on the intake when you go to re-install it, because you sure as hell aint gonna attach that hose and reclamp it after the intake is on.
So what happens is, you have to slowly slide the intake back, and then make sure to loop the big hose over BEHIND the oil pressure snder as you go. Otherwise, it gets in front of the sensor, and as you slide the intake on back, it gets between the back intake and the oil pressure sensor, there is not enough space there for the hose IN FRONT of the sensor, so you end up breaking the sensor off. It's got a plastic body, and will break real easy.
You just have to be real carefull as you slide the intake back, and make SURE the hose goes BEHIND the sensor. IF YOU FEEL ANY RESISTANCE AS YOU SLIDE THE INTAKE TO THE BACK, STOP! 'cause you are probably about to brake the little bazdard!!
