Default TR230 people come on in

i just put the TR230 cam in my car and have noticed an idle issue
it idles fine but when you rev it up a little after you let off the gas the rpms drop and the car tries to die but finally catches up and starts idleing fine again.......

should i of drilled the TB?
what could be the cause of this?

thanks
nate

Your car is doing this because it is untuned. What kind of TB do you have? If its a stock TB you can drill it but i wouldnt....that just me. A tune will straighten it up for you.

Maybe you need to get it tuned and raise the idle?

my car has the same cam and the same idle issue. it's been tuned extensively and still does it from time to time. my car is an a-4 with a pretty big verter though. tuner tried on atleast 6 or 7 occasions but just can't nail it down. he did make it better at least

if your tuner tells you he's going to drill a hole in your throttle body blade, find a qualified tuner.

Cracking the throttle blade doesn't always work. Sometimes you HAVE to drill a hole.

You need to get a better tune. Each car is different and therefore they respond differently. A mail order tune can get in the ballpark but not exact. I have the same cam and used to have the same issues until I got a good tune.

Mine always idled fine at around 900rpms. The only time it would jump around a bit was with the A/C on which is going to happen with most cams. I have to agree with the others, and say you need a better tune.

TR230 is too small to be drilling the throttle-body. I realize a bigger cams need more air and more fuel, but the overlap is so low for that cam, that it shouldn't be required.

Find a better tuner. Most good tuners can get 240+ duration cams and 17+ degrees of overlap to idle on a MAF tune without drilling a hole.

Tell that to my IAC motor. It was 100% open and still surging. I opened the TB hole a bit and now it purs like a kitten.
