Street Racing & Kill Stories - Modded LS1 T/A goes down.....twice

My buddy and me were riding around in the daily driver (95' GT) waisting alittle bit of time before we were supose to meet up with some other friends at Cheeseburger in Paradise. As I'm pulling out of a gas station I see a black LS1 T/A with black wheels and polished lip go by. Traffic was hell so after about 3 miles I catch up with him. I notice its two guys around 19 years old. At first I didn't think I was going to get him to run. (What I found out for sure about his car was it was an automatic that shifted pretty hard/crisp and he seemed to have exhaust and gears.) Then we came to a redlight and we would be lined up if he got over, he was behind me. He wouldn't get over so I got over so we would be.

Race 1: Redlight

As soon as he pulled up he said "Hey man, can I open my bottle?" I said "sure" but as I said that the light turned green and he seemed mad he wasn't able to spray me. Well it kinda threw the dead stop race off. Still I knew I had all season tires in the rear and he had an automatic with gears so I knew I was going to be fighting a losing battle from a 1st roll or dead stop. I waited for him to punch it first. He did then I instantly did. My 1st gear blew the tires off, I short shifted into 2nd and played the throttle to keep my car pulling alittle while I was still spinning. All through 1st and 2nd my passenger said he could have carried on a conversation with the driver of the T/A as if we were sitting still. Traction in 2nd caught and I started inching away from him. I slammed 3rd gear and pulled half a car on him then he let off. When I saw him let off I did also.

Race 2: 2nd gear roll

He caught back up to me and paced along side me. I dropped it into 3rd gear and let him get even with me. I then downshifted into 2nd gear around 3,500rpms which is not a good spot at all for me. Then the T/A punches it and I followed a split second later. I instantly start my pull. I jammed 3rd gear and got the 275s in the rear to bark next to him. Pulled about a carlength on him through 3rd and hit 4th so hard the transmission scratched. By then he had given up.

What are your mods.

you cant guess what someone has then assume they have them, and unless you got some serious $ the ls1 owner was prolly laughing at you for even attempting,Remember 6 cylinders arents ls1's, however i did say unless you got some serious $ invested, im calling :bs:

After he got some seat time I was being walked hard on the regular with his cousin pointing and laughing at me from his passenger seat.

What are your mods? I thought you did a motor swap, I could be wrong?

Damn that !driver.... But I know the feeling, still feeling out my car. I have gotten played by a ????? because of that mod, but revenge is sweet.

It was cool, we're all good friends. I'm the only FORD guy that hangs out with a bunch of LS1 guys. The 94 GT ended up being wrecked after being hit by a old GMC pick-up of all things. Now I have a 97 Cobra but recently spun a rod bearing so no more mustang for at least a year. :cry:

Probably raced a V6 Firebird with gears and boltons. That would be a good run for a 95 GT.

I was hoping the owner would be here. I'd like to run him for money with him on nitrous.

I dont understand how some people will go N20 without having other supporting mods. No bottle, no fun.... IF, and I stress IF, I decide to run the bottle, it would be a incase shit mod. Say a 100hp wet kit on top of it, for that little extra boost. Just my way of thinking I guess.

No still have it. Got a motor being built for it by VT, a Hellion 88mm single turbo, and a Turbo 400 tranny are going in it. :eek2: It should run 10.80's then. :jest:
