Default what could happen?

I have a '98 Z28 with the stock exhaust from the manifolds back, but I cut the muffler off because I thought it was too quiet. Could the fact that there is no muffler back there anymore have any negative impact on the performance of the car? I did notice just the other day, the car is starting to hesitate from the start i.e.: from a red light. It sounds like it might die for split second, but then it up and goes and for the most part drives like normal. It's just when I leave from a dead stop that it seems to want to hesistate. What do you guys think?
