in Camaros its just a light change (instrament pannel is just bulbs.....everything else is LEDs...)...I don't know if the red in the firebirds is a light or if the plastic is colored

In the firebirds it is a film on the gauges, you would need to peel it off and do a blue film, I think the actualy bulbs are white.

I also want to change my gauges to blue, and I was thinking that some theater gels would work.
So I think I'm gonna give that a shot.

BTW, theater gels = colored plastic things that change colors of spot lights.

theatrical supply houses can get the gel, or if you can't find it local, i can get it,

http://www.rosco-ca.com/products/fil...ction=Roscolux

these are the colors i can get, and they come in a full sheet, 20 by 24", and cost would be around $13 shipped for the sheet. Or i have #26, #84 #343, at my house that i could get you 4" by 8" sheets for $5 shipped.

let me find out how much 84 i have at the house, but i think i have a piece like 20 by 16 or so, i know i have a couple 4 by 8" sheets already cut too. but i'll measure it tomorrow, and let you know, what i have here. , if that is not enough i can get as many full sheets that you need from my suplier. (pricing will a lot cheaper, as more full sheets are ordered)

Cannibal, I've been looking for places online to get the theater gels, and I found a site with blue ones that I like.
4 12"x16" gels for $18.45 shipped:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bh6.sph/...ID=F587A514250

I think I'm gonna try those. Only thing is I don't think the picture is the actual item, so I'm not quite sure what shade of blue it is, so I might be wasting $18. But if it works out, 4 12x16 sheets oughtta be enough to do like 4 cars, heh.

But looks like slow has a pretty good deal going too. So either way would be good.

Correct. On Camaros you do NOT have to use film to change colors. You just have to change bulbs. However you can use white bulbs with this film to get colors your normally cant buy w/ bulbs.

Any part numbers for those blue bulbs? How many total? TIA

True, I could just change the bulbs.
However, most bulbs tend to lose their color over time due to the heat of the filament.
A good theater gel will never lose its color, because they're designed to be under the consistent high heat of spotlights.
So I'm choosing to keep the stock bulbs.

the gel is cheap, it costs almost as much to ship it properly, as the product itself is. (when doing small pieces)

I have a couple sample books with lots of colors in them, if anybody is interested.

and if there is a lot of interest, i can get better pricing in quanity

and the 12 by 16 sheets should be able to do lots more than 4 cars.

For my autometer gauges, i use about 2" square each. Makes a nice blood red, instead of the bright red that comes with them.

I plan on doing this for the headlight switch overlay, HVAC overlay, and the instrument cluster. So in that respect, I think it'll take almost a full sheet for one car. But I dunno, I'm just guessing.

Good to hear that it works nicely. Makes me look forward to the results I'll get.
