Wheels & Tires - what kind of tire

well i figuired out what kind of rims im going to get a for my car (17x9 up front and either 17x9 or 17x10.5 torque thrust m's out back) but never thought about what kind of tires i should get. what does everyone think? i want something that is going ot last a little while but not going to cost me an arm and leg to buy or replace later down the road.

and also for the tires if i end up going with the 17x10.5 rim which tire size should i go with. something like a 285, 315??

Well I think 315s are expensive no matter what. but just search for them on tirerack.com and they have reviews and everything too.

yeah they even have 315s for under 100 dollars. When i wanted 315s i was gonna get gsd3s until i saw the price.

i think GSD3s are ugly......everyone rants and raves about them, but that arrow tread design.....ugh, just looks ricey to me. if i was going to spend alot of money on tires, in this size, i was going to get BFG KDs.......NOT kdw. (she never sees rain). i think those are the best for handling...but you pay for them. you cant beat 315s for $96ea. if i want the best traction......ill put my kuhmo 710 slicks on. the sumis are good enough for weekend driving. falken 615s are also excellent tires, street and autoxing. very afforable also........but not available in 315/17.

I've been happy with my Sumitomos so far. I don't DD though, I just drive it a few days a week at most. And I don't do many dead stop launches.

I don't like my BFG KD's car now sounds like a mudder truck going down the road . . .

what about the goodyear eagle f1gs-d3??

yeah those are the ones me and echomirage were talking about. but i really like the way they look, and ive heard lots of good stuff about them. and i want something a lik different from the regular tread patterns.

how is the tread life on those gsd3's. i dont daily drive this car but i dont want to get a set of tires taht isnt going ot last very long
