OMG How to get the second motor mount lined up?
Sweet jeebus this is impossible.
So we're in the middle of my motor mount/exhaust install and we've got the driver side mount in and fully bolted up.
This morning we got the passenger side mount bolted to the block, but I can't for the life of me get it lined up with the pedestal so as to push the through bolt in!
The mount is positioned about a 1/4" exactly to the left (toward the passenger side) of where it needs to be.
Any tips on how to line it up? And yes, we have a copious amount of prybars so don't just say "PRY THE SH*T OUT OF IT" because we've already tried.....

There are no "right sides."
So long as you make sure each mount has the tabs pointing up and the poly is in the shell correctly, the two are interchangeable.
....
I think?

HOT DAMN!
We got it. It took unbolting the pedestal and re-unbolting the clamshell plus some swearing and brute force but it's in and I swear I will never do this again in my life.
Well, maybe......lol

I loosened up the the mounting bolts and did the pry bar thing and they lined up enough to get the long bolts in. after that I tightened everything up. It was a pain though and honestly getting everything lined back up was more of a pain than any other part of the install.

Seriously.
I just did my headers and they were CAKE. Ground the tab on the driver's side a tiny bit and it slid right up no problems. I think the poly mounts make the engine sit a little higher and it's definitely stiffer.

I did my mounts and headers at the same time in my driveway, took about 3 days with ~4hrs of work each day, the mounts went in easy, they didnt drop back into place immediately but a little prybar action took care of that.

I used a giant prybar. I actually bent the damn thing. I got under the car and started prying, then my dad used an air ratchet and a hammer to get the bolt all the way through. Have fun! I know i did

Big mistake a lot of people make is removing the stock mount on both sides instead of doing one at a time. With both out, there are too many degrees of motion that the engine can move around in, whereas if you leave one in, you're allowed to pivot about that point, which helps ALOT when putting the new ones in.

Can prying hard enough to get the bolts to line up slightly throw off your front alignment? After I put mine in, my steering wheel is slightly turned to the left and pulls ever so slightly. Makes sense if you had to move the motor mount a 1/2 inch that it would slightly throw off the alignment.

When I saw my passenger side was off by 1/4 inch, I took the mount back off, put it in a vice and pushed the metal bolt shaft in the middle through the mount 1/4 inch. It lined up perfect after that.
Changing the actual mount only took me a few minutes. I spent much more time getting the AC/starter off and on than I actually spent with the mount.
