Default Anyone w/MTI Clear Lid

I just bought the MTI Clear Lid and went to put it on and the openeing that goes over the MAF point down quite far b/c it doesnt slid into the slots on the lower airbox. My question is did you have to cut out an opening on the airbox to get it to fit? I will if i have to.

well, mine fits nicely, I just dont like the slight gap between the two plastics on the maf and the lid. They should supply rubber seal and some clamps

Mine didn't fit worth a shi$$ either but I managed to massage it in without breaking the tabs off.I ended up notching out the upper radiator hold down so that the slope that it had, could allow the thing to fit under the plastic tabs. Also when all was said and done I drilled 2 small holes in each latch and screwed through them in the closed position just so they wouldn't unlatch because of the pressure of the cruddy fit.I do love the looks though!? I got mine on with some massaging. The only thing that bugs me is that the neck that goes over the maf is too long. It scrunches up the bellow so i couldn't put a smooth bellow on there if i wanted to.

Mine does the same thing you just have to push the 4 tabs in and slide it forward. It's not faulty just a tight fit.

I've actually never had an issue with mine installing, or sitting awkward. Maybe I got a "bad" batch that actually fit.

Had mine since 2001, tight fit, never cracked. First tab on passenger side popped out a couple of times when I first installed it, just need to loosen up clamps on T-body and MAF and jam in tabs before you clamp the front of lid. No problem since.

well i just put it on ill take a pic tomorow of what i did... gotta get ready for work . I noticed thought that it doeant really even seal all that well either. Kinda defeates the purpose of a clean flow of air, but its noting some insulation wont fix

Gillbot, isn't it amazing how we both have "crappy" mac headers and "crappy" clear mti lids and don't have any problems with either?

Um sure. Well I've owned two MTI lids now and haven't had any problems with either. Some people just lack that part of the brain that tells them to go above and beyond the installation instructions.

Im on my second lid as well. The first one spider cracked on both sides coming from the MAF opening...most likely from engine shake and brittle plastic. The fit of both has been challenging. You gotta be very gentle getting it on and off and it will be a tight fit. A cool look, but not quite worth the $140 bucks IMO. In MTI's defense they did replace the first one for free though...
