lifters
Im going to do a cam swap, but befor i do this, i would like to know what exactly to look for to find out if your lifters are bad. I hear a tap in the engine thats always been there, but then when i put on my full exaust i herd another one, and it only could be heard at very very low rpm like 400-600. I dont wanto do the rods and a full spring kit and a cam only to be let down by my lifters. Does anyone with experience know what too look for with these lifters?, and how hard they are to change?, and if there a notorious problem with ls1's with alotof miles?

But if a lifter explodes it will be too late. If you have any doubt that are not good and you are doing a cam swap, spend some extra cash in lifters, head gaskets and bolts, and exhaust mani gaskets. Its easier to change the springs with the heads off. Plus you will not have to deal with the lifters falling in when you slide your cam out.

Some ticking is normal. And LT's make it sound worse. They dont hold the drivetrain noise in like the thick stock manis. Im a fan of the "why your in there replace what you can" but It can be more expensive and a hassle that might not even be worth it.
