I have the SS3800 with 3.73 gears. It's very streetable. As much or more so than my old ST3500. No need to go with the SS3600 if you have 3.73 gears. It's a pretty tight feeling converter.
At 70 mph, my SS turns 2500 rpms in OD (with factory tires).

2500rpms @ 70 mph? huh, the one i have now turns about 2600 or 2700 around 70 and its only a 2800 stall...?
then again...i'm only getting about 8 mpg too. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

The stall will not have any effect on highway driving. Lower rear gears are what will make the engine make more RPMs on the highway.
BTW, how did you dyno almost 400 rwhp with a stock internal LS1?

quickws6,
its not a stock internal. cam/intake/boltons...and tuning.

8 mpg? Guess I should be happy getting 20-21 on the highway. Yes, 2500 rpms at 70 mph is what my tach says and Autotap confirms.

Patrick G,
yep...8 mpg. still gotta little tuning issue to get worked out apparently. Best i can get is about 150 miles on a tank and thats mostly hwy...
