Which IAT sensor to use when running an 85mm Truck MAF
I just converted from my stock LS1 3-wire MAF to the LS6 85mm 5-wire style (15904068, old #25318411). No resistors, I've copied the MAF table from a truck tune into my MAF tune. I'm also using pace parts 3-wire to 5-wire adaptor. It's running fine.
What I didnt realize until now, is this new 85mm MAF has a built in IAT sensor, and the cable I bought from pace will allow me to use the built in IAT over my stock setup which is located in the lid.
Any benefit or harm in using the one built into the MAF?

I found the in-throat IAT has a lot less heat soak
than the one that was in the lid, the Blackwing puts
it way off in a corner where there's not really any
airflow so the temperature moves very slowly from
engine compartment to ambient once you roll. If you
plan to stay with the 85mm you might even consider
modifying it to eliminate the old sensor-end and new
harness-end connectors, hard wire to the new plug
and eliminate a foot of bunched up wiring on top of
the motor. If you like soldering etc.

I found black plastic "panel plugs" in the Lowe's & Home Depot
odd-parts drawers that worked fine; little bit of black weather
strip cement to keep them airtight, you don't even notice the
AIR and IAT holes were there. I forget the sizes, I just bought
a bag of each they had and used what fit.
