Default Sudden clutch blow-up?

Anyone ever thrashed their clutch suddenly in the middle of a WOT run?

I was in 2nd gear, the car spooled and pulled hard for about half a second and then something let go, rpms shot up and I let out of it. Limping along, car would go into gears but sounded awful with mild whining and grinding. This noise is apparent when the clutch is pressed in; the car sounds OK in neutral as long as you don't start to engage the clutch.

Hoping that I fragged my McLeod twin or the master cylinder instead of my T56.
