Default I have a quick oil pump question

Today my oil pump arrived along with a few other parts for the swap. I opened it up and the center part that slides over the crank was not centered in the opening. I can move side to side. I was wondering if this is alright. I just want to check before I install it and start it up and have 0 oil pressure.

it should rotate along an off-centered axis. this is correct. is that your question?

I guess, I just know when its bolted up it will be centered on the crankshaft, and right now it is not centered in the hole.

yeah if what i think you're saying is true, then that is correct. its basically a mechanical mechanism that spins around in there with another spinny device. i was curious and took it apart in order to understand it. i figured out how it worked by looking at it and concluded that it was correct the way it was
