Default Turbo Car overheating

Guys I am just wondering which radiator are you guys using with AC. I am currently running a stock radiator and Black Magic Extreme. I leaned the radiator forward just enough to put turbo infront of crank pulley. Just too much heat by the radiator. I think I am going to stand the radiator up and replace it with a big griffen or similar.

I know my setup is custom but I used the universal 3core griffin radiator from summit. $189.00. Not sure it will fit in stock location though?

I have the stock radiator but at the stock angle. It gets the full dose of air from under the air dam, and there are no problems to report yet...

No, unfortunatly i don't have a/c anymore.I think my radiator is the same dimension as the stock one, it is just thicker.

i didnt raise my i/c up as high as most do on the front bumper support. I noticed that it actually was blockin airflow to half my airdam.,,,not literally but you can see how the bulge in the bottom of the front bumper cover seems to direct air under most of the air dam. For now, i just extended the airdam about 2" and it solved my coolin probs. I will eventually move the i/c up higher.

My air dam is lower due to moving the radiator forward a bit.

I got the stock radiator at stock angle also with a/c , but my turbo is where my battery was so it is not putting heat on the radiator.

I don't even have a air dam on mine.I think they are overrated.I never have an overheating issue either without it.Traffic or cruising,it is all good.

A friend of mine built a turbo kit for a LS1 swapped RX7. It was having major overheating issues. Then he put the air dam back on and problem solved. They are there for a reason.

But you posted that you had engine problems... ?

We are putting an air dam back on the Pinks camaro because you can tell from logging that the IAT's go up real fast... We messed with this stuff like seven years ago, the air dams make a difference.

My engine problem's were soley due to something totally different. The reason for the overheating was it would push all the water out, therfore it would run hot. Fill it back up with water and I could drive forever as long as i did not beat on it. I have been to pigeon forge in traffic for 4 hrs. and no overheating. I know they are there for a reason and are supposed to use them. For some reason on my setup I have no issue's without mine.

Hunter has a different rad....location and angle so it doesnt necessarily apply to him.
I know my iron block runs hotter than an aluminum ls1 block as well...something else to keep in mind. Just drove around atlanta today with the a/c on and varying traffic...temps were 221-235...its around 95 deg here today. I can live with those coolant temps for now
but if it were 5 degrees warmer, i might consider getting a lt1 radiator which is a tick larger capacity than the ls1 rad. On the plus side...higher coolant temps are good for gas mileage and keeping the oil free of condensation

Right, and I'm saying the lack of the air dam will increase the IAT's and therefore the car runs hotter.

On a n/a car I would agree, but on a f/i car with a good intercooler, and in a good location of air flow, your iat's should be fine without it.I thought the issue was the engine was running hot and not about the iat's rising. Your engine can overheat and still have low iat's!IMOA.
