Default Oil Cap Question

So I have seen a few cars that have oil caps on them that appear to have a filter on it. What are the purposes of these oil caps with filters on them. What are the advantages over the stock cap? Where can I get a good one?

Thats a PCV breather and its used to vent the crankcase in forced induction applications. For stock or bolt on LS1..the factory PCV system is fine.

Allright, good info. Short and sweet, but i still see it on Non-Forced induction cars. I am assuming its an appearnce thing, does it hurt anything to put one on a stock LS1? Any Downfalls?
