Hey guys I have a buddy that is real secretive about his car. It is an extremly clean 10,000 mile slp option SS. His dad bought it new for him for his 14th birthday "how awesome". Anyway it has always been a good running car but the other day when we went to the track and out of no where it ran 7.90 in an 1/8 in 100 degree weather. It was on street tires so I went over to investigate. I know the car had 3.73s, CAI stuff, and slp options. When I started looking I saw he had put some headers on it and he told me he had it dyno tuned and headers installed and that was it. I would believe him but the car sounded like it had a small cam and I noticed that on the passanger side head it had slp etched into it. I said something to him about it and he told me that it came from slp like that. Is this true? I thought the heads on an slp car were the same as a regular SS if they are why would they etched that into them? Thanks for any input guys.

He probably had the SLP 500 HP kit in it... Or a variation of it. I think it was an option when ordering it. Kind of like the Roush mustangs. Stage 1-3. I wish I had a Dad like that. I have that very same kit in my garage going on my TA this winter. The cam is a 236/228 split duration I believe giving it a REALLY mild idle. Sounds about right.

Just cause its rated at 500 horses, doesnt mean it will make that. Probably around 415 at the tires depending on the year. i.e. LS1 or LS6 intake.... EGR or not... But with the LTs I would expect about 420ish.
But on a side note, they offered MANY options. 500hp kit is stage 3 ported and polished heads. So, make them stage 2 or 1 and there ya go... But yeah, it was ordered real nice by daddy...

So your average slp car did not have slp etched into the passanger head lol. I had an 03 cobra last year I thought it pulled hard but know I am thinking I need to buy me another ls1 car lol.

SLP uses the AFR heads. If they are those heads they will have a BIG "SLP" cnc'd on the end of the head, and it will have a polished surface. Also there will be no freeze plug at the end of the head.
(used to work there (AFR))

No these did not come stock. It an aftermarket kit. Check SLPONLINE.com they have multiple packages. As far as power the ranges vary depending on the money you spend. It is basically an over priced kit rated at the crank.
The heads themselves are not factory pieces at all. They are custom cast pieces sourced from an aluminum casting company. Then fully cnc'd and assembled.
You can EASILY surpass the power he is making by sourcing the parts yourself and spending about half the price.
The SLP head/cam packages run about $3K+ and the exhaust runs at least $1200 for full exhaust.
The cam the use is a 236 on a 112 lsa. You would deffinately notice the lope on that cam. It would make close to 400hp at the wheels, if tuned properly.
