Default What do you think about my T56 gears - need replaced?

I am in the process of rebuilding my T56 and am trying to decide what gears to replace. 1-4 are my main concern. 5th adn 6th are OK. I am thinking 2nd and 4th need replaced, but not sure about 1st and 3rd.

If you guys have an opinion I am all ears.

You might as well replace them all while your in there.

That way EVERYTHING is brand new!

Well that all depends on how much $$ you want to spend. Inspect them and determine if they are worn or not.

Had I held a new gear in my hand prior to ordering I probably would have just ran a couple of them and saved a few bucks. I ended up replacing all the gears.

Your first and second gear look in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. I'd look at replacing 3rd and the input shaft/4th gear.

I sent this to Amber at Six Speeds Inc, so hopefully she will give her opinion. I am willing to buy all new gears if needed, but these arent cheap. New 1-4 gears would run me $500.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Agreed, if in question, replace it.

Its the clutch teeth that count on these. As was stated above, the 1st&2nd aren't too bad. I would replace the 3rd and input. What about the drive ODs and reverse driven? 5th and rev driven generally take a spanking. If 5th is damaged, get a new shift fork as well.

4th def. looks worn, I would probably replace it. I didn't see any reason to replace the others. But I have Amber or Joe consult further.

The only gear you should replace is 4th. The synchro teeth on that gear are fairly worn but the good news is 1-3rd look fine. 1-3 Actually don't look like they have that many miles on them but 4th is going to have to be replaced.

Thanks,
Amber

Thanks for the help guys, and thanks Amber. I did replace 1-3 gears about 2000 miles ago during my first rebuild. Glad to know that darn draggin clutch didnt mess everything up.

Amber, you will be getting in input shaft order from me soon.
