Default Good News and Bad...UMI Kmember

well after having the kmember and a arms in my spare bedroom now for 4 months im going to tackle the job tommorrow. took it completely out of the box about 10 min ago

the good news is its beefy and i like it lot and cant wait to get it in there.

the bad news is i ordered the regular kmember, and i got the road race version.

but after looking into it, its only 3lbs heavier, and eventually i wanna road race it anyway, plus theres added support.

so all in all im happy that i got teh road race version and cant wait to get it and the a arms installed tommorrow.

ill post up after i get it in w/ pics.

Isn't the road race one more expensive? Sounds like you got the sweet end of the deal man; cant see any bad news there. Anyway plz post some progress pics when you can.

Yup, that's the way to look at it. Even if you don't road race it and may just keep it for street use (which I'd rather track a high performance vehicle anyways), I think that 3lbs on the front end with proper structural design in that critical part is something that I'd definitely want. I guess I could be paranoid, however my previous experience with buckled and bent K-members (manufacturers wont be disclosed) is one that I feel skeptical about when it comes to most aftermarket K-members, though this one has seriously drawn my interest.

I definitely hope this post remains alive, so the members here know of your experience with the K-member and A-arms.

Brandon,

Please post pictures of the K-Member. It shouldn't be the road race version, we only build those to order. If it is then you got a deal and are more then welcome to keep it. But I would be pretty sure its not.

I would like to know for sure so I can see who packed it and why we messed up.

Thanks,
Ryan

ryan, ok

i was going by the pictures that i saw on the umi site.

lemme get my pics DLed and get them up.

ill also do a write up of the install as well since i couldnt find anything on it.

the stock k member and a arms are out. putting the new kmember and a arms in tommorrow when my buddy comes back. what helped alot was that i took the altenator off to get to the driver side motr mount.my a/c has been gone for a while and that was also a big help w/ getting to the other motor mount.

ok

EDIT...... Ryan, i looked at the road race more closely on your site and it has the extra cross bars in the area of the upper a arms. mine doesnt. so i did recieve the normal one. i dont have the extra cross bars. what i was looking at was the 2nd bar that welded at the bottom that crosses under the engine and thought that was the extra tubing for he road race version.

i still get pics up later, finishing up the motor mounts and calling it a day.

Brandon,

I just looked at your pictures and correct, you don't have the road race version.

But nice write up so far!
