Default A Couple of EFI Live / HP Tuners Comparision Questions

Hello, I have read through all the search post comparing these two products, Im not trying to start a war, I just want to know a few things about these products and what they can do.

With EFI Live V2, can I log and store data without a laptop?

With EFI Live V2, can I store different tunes in the flash box and flash the PCM with different tunes without a laptop? (IE - N/A tune and a Nitrous Tune)

Does EFI Live have any real time tuning? (Without the roadrunner)

Does HP Tuners only have real time tuning in Professional mode? Does RTT cost an additional charge? What can be edited realtime?

If I want to remove my AIR pump, can I disable the code with HPT or EFI and still pass emissions with either?

Will HPT only support wideband data logging with the professional version?

Sorry for all the questions, i am really swaying back and forth about which one to get and Im trying to see the pros and cons in each. Thanks in advance for any help.

HPT offered the first sane software for these computers. (I have NO love for ls1edit). EFI later countered with a similar product. Since then, the competition between the two has driven both to produce a much better more functional product for us. They took entirely different approaches with the real time tuning thing. If I were you, I would constantly check the support forums for both to see which approach suited me better. I personally use HPT, but I can't in good conscience knock EFI, because they offer a very similar quality product. BTW, Either one could log a wideband without upgrades if you do some reading and use a little ingenuity.

No

No

No

No, both standard & pro versions offer RTT since the software in both is identical.

Does RTT cost an additional charge?
1 or 2 credits depending on which operating system you choose, your initial purchase comes with 8 credits to use as you choose.

What can be edited realtime?
MAF frequency table
VE table
VE multiplier table
High octane spark table
Idle speed
Idle air flow
Idle spark advance
Idle overspeed
Idle underspeed
Power enrichment multiplier
O2 switchpoints
Knock tables
etc.

Most things that you'd want to tune in real time you have access to them.

Will HPT only support wideband data logging with the professional version?
Its much easier to run a wideband through the pro version but many have run a wideband through their egr and there are several writeups on here as well as corvetteforums as to how to go about this if you want to save yourself a few bucks.

SSpdDmon, I have NO idea what you meant, but if there is an interesting story behind those comments, I would love to hear it. If it isn't something you feel comfortable posting in an open forum, PLEASE pm.

The firmware is still in development if you read their website. It'll be here soon.

Check out which software you feel more comfortable with, download the EFILive software directly from their site, and just play around with it. Do the same for HP if they have a demo now. Thats what I did when I was trying to choose between the two.

I'm just an end-user and don't know all the details. Jesse or Chad might know if you're looking for an answer.

#1 : http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/context

#2 : I'll admit I have not been keeping up to snuff on new product releases/updates. But, history....well, that's a different story - one that doesn't change.

# 3 : I'm not trying to turn this into a pissing contest. I said what I had to say and I'm done.
