Default Can I get rid of my cat?

Ive got a 1995 camaro and i was wondering if i could just take the cat off or what would be required by taking the cat off..because i have a high flow cat and i didnt know without putting headers on if it would be any louder.

But I got told by my muffler shop by taking it out my car wont run right..is that true or would be ok because i dont have anything going to my cat no wire or O2 sensor.they are right under my manifolds.

muffler was just trying to discourage you from doing it since they can't legally touch it. taking it off won't affect the car running correctly or not.

I'm sure it would help performance, but a gutted cat will sound like a ratling can. After headers, I would bet that the cat restricts airflow more than the muffler, but not as much as stock manifolds. I've seen dyno graphs comparing these things before.
