Default exhaust question....

I have a Blowmaster 80 series on my LT1 right now and was wondering if it would be better to remove the muffler in general and run a straigh pipe after the cat, or go with a magnaflow/slp cat back...

thanks

People have made more hp with the stock system than with a flowmaster. I don't know why.

Some of that also depends on what year your car is and how concerned you are about emissions/inspections.

straight pipe after the cat will sound like ****..sure it'll be loud, but not nice sounding whatsoever...magnaflow is a nice catback...stainless like the loudmouth, but a little less raspy...good for about up to 400rwhp before it becomes the chokehold of your setup...

the cat-back systems will make more power. They give you a larger diameter pipe all the way back from the y. if you just take off the flowmaster you are still running small pipe and it is restrictive. unless you get rid of all the pipe to the y the cat-back's are better. And if you decide you might want to get rid of that pipe just get a cut-out, easier that way.

Im just looking for the best way to make power. I dont have emissions so thats not a worry. I can change the pipe diameter size no problem.

I like my borla. I can run it open just like a cutout or I can close it up some if I want to quiet it down. I usually run it about 3/4 of the way open just because. It's a pricey system and I only have it because it came on the car. I'd recommend Magnaflow if I had to buy one and replace the cat with a straight pipe or cutout.
