I'm afraid I might have seen the last of my rear end gears, and the shop I'm taking it to wants to do a 373 setup with a spool. what do you guys think?

I actually hate not having power steering way more than my spool. With a set of MT DRs you will hardly notice the spool.

A spool will be harder on your u-joints. A locker is a better choice if want the same spool-effect and drive the car on the street... Drawback = more $$$.
