Default cam timing and HVMC headers

I've got a question about high velocity merge collecters and camshaft timing.

From what I have been able to read about the hvmc's they require "careful camshaft tuning" to get the most out of them.

So my question is this. What direction do you go with the valve timing to get the most benefit from this design?

I recently put American racing headers on and am wondering about cam selection in the future.

Thanks in advance.

Get the cam that suits your desires, forget about matching to the HVMC. It won't make a bloody difference except on a max, max, max set up.

i agree with you. if your building a nextel cup engine, i'm sure these guys would tell you which way to go, but a street motor, you would probably never see a difference.

Still curious about the theory though.

Contact patrick g a moderator here. For $50 he can pick a cam out for your set up.

I'd be curious to see if his recommendation for a 6 speed daily driver car is any different. IE, don't mind rough idle, occassional trips to the track, 4.10 gears, etc.
