Tail Pipe and Carbon Rich or Lean
I was taking the trash out and walked by the T/A just happened to take my finger and whip the inside of the tail pipe and it was like chaulkey Black. Is that normal or could it be too rich or lean, any other way to tell. Thanks Chris

My car sooted up the tips ever since new/stock, I think it's just a
matter of carbon being the only one of the combustion / catalytic
decomposition products that won't evaporate. You're going to get
trace amounts in any nonideal process (and no process is ideal).
It just has nowhere to go and no way to get there so it sits.
When I had cats, I had dry carbon. Without cats, it's more like tar.
