Default Can EFI Live tune a pcm that has a HP Tuners tune in it?

I am going to buy the EFI live for my trans am but the PCM has been tuned with hptuners from a mail order tune. Will I have a problem with this?

you can as long as there isn't a HP Tuners Custom OS used.

...or the PCM was "locked" by HPTuners (I don't think that feature is available on '97 LS1 PCMs, though).

You should be fine, If it is locked you can manually put in the key in efilive if you know it.

Wouldn't a full rewrite overide a locked PCM too?

Nope, If locked properly not even a tech 2 should be able to overwrite the pcm.

By saying locked "properly" do you mean there are multiple ways to lock the PCM? I'd think that if it's written to flash, the flash itself can be overwritten.

Is the Lock in hardware or software? My thought is that it was simply a software lock. What about going to a custom OS on the PCM, or reflashing the standard OS? Doesn't that rewrite enough to remove the lock?

He means is you change the key of the pcm to something other than the original, "making the seed not match its proper algorithm", then the software you are using to make the change to your computer would not be able to have access to the pcm to upload the bootloader into it, to run its custom code. There are plenty of things you can do to lock the pcm, from hardware minipulation/ Os code on the chip, Changing to a different algorithm, changing the hard written key ect..
