Default I cracked my flywheel!

I took off my starter because it was making a weird noise and found this. The little gap in the flywheel is the crack and it goes about 2" inward towards one of the bolts.

I am going to change it on friday. I would like to know any tips I should know before tackling this project, like in removing the transmission, torque converter, or the flywheel. Also, the flywheel is just bolted on, right? This is the first time I am going to take my tranny off so I have no idea what to expect.

If the transmission has never been out before. You're really going to want to heat up the 3 torque converter bolts. The locktite from the factory is MEAN. lol.

Make sure you order a "Flexplate" for your car...not a flywheel.

I didnt realize it was a flexplate. But why would it crack like that?s That is a pretty thick piece of metal to just split like that.

Mine was cracked around 2 of the bolt holes for the converter. 00 and newer flexplates are known for cracking.
