LS6 heads are 243 castings with hollow stem lightweight valves and the exhaust valve is sodium filled on the 2002-2004 years, standard valves on the 2001 year heads. Also LS2s have the same 243 castings with standard solid stem valves.

241 castings are LS1 heads from generally 2001-2004 years, maybe some late 2000 models. 241s are not LS6 heads.

243 castings also came on the LS2. These heads are the same, but do not have the hollow stem valves.

I would look to get a discount on the car purchase knowing what you know now. However, he could just buy it that way and call Gunnar to get a "real" set of heads.

so what is the differance between the 243 and the 799 heads? I can buy 799 heads used for 350-400 dollars but 243 heads are considerably higher. Why the difference in price if they are the same head?

241= LS1 heads

243 = LS6 heads.

A dirty block is a darker shade.. an LS6 block looks exactly the same as an LS1 block.. you can only tell by casting numbers on the back.. and the LS6 and LS1 block are virtually identical in every way.. the LS6 has better bay to bay breathing.. but structurally they are the same, the LS1 is even a bit stronger.

LS6 heads from PP here (Technically you can call them ls2 heads since they have the ls2 valves in them). Cast number is easy to find. See below.

We can sell you brand new GM 243 castings for $395.00 per pair bare or $425.00 assembled with oem non-sodium valves.

How are the 241 heads? I currently have a 98 z28 with shitty heads. And have the oppurtunity of buying used 241 heads. If i port these would i see any difference in hp? Also would a pair of these 241's ported go good with a torquer v3 cam? Thanks
