i ordered a custom cam from tsp a while ago. after about 4 weeks i pmed jon at tsp and asked what the situation was with the delivery. he pmed me back very quickly and said that it was delivered to my doorstep. he gave me the fedex tracking #, so i went on fedex.com and tracked it. they also said that it was dropped at doorstep with no signature required. well...must have been someone elses door step cause its been about a month now and im still camless. i filed a report with fed-ex and they said they would get back to me in a few days with some info on the driver of the route. if anyone at tsp could be of any assistance with this situation it would be greatly appreciated. i have no hard feelings toward tsp. i know once they put the order through to comp that its out of their hands. but maybe they could call someone at comp and get the situation taken care of, or at least get me some info. thanks.

They may not be aware you are still waiting on a claim - and they have to file it.
It is also peak season so if they did take your information, most likely they are waiting to hear from FedUp.
Shoot them another reminder email and ask for "Signature Delivery". I live in an area where it is not required unless I ask the shipper to put it on the package.

should i contact comp? or should i just wait and see what fed ex does?

Kevin,
Shoot me an email with the name the order was placed under. I'll see what I can do about getting this straightened out.

There are two unpopular reasons vendors cannot just send you another cam:
Past customers have said they did not receive their package when they did receive it OR it was so held up by the shipper, it arrived within a few days of a complaint filed.
This means you'd end up with two cams and have the hassle of sending one back - which never goes smoothly.
FedEx can take up to 3 months to reimburse for a lost shipment which is money out for TSP and comp cams during that time.
It could be someone else is enjoying a new cam they didn't pay for because the shipper delivered it to the wrong address.
It does not seem fair yet it is the shipper to blame here.
TSP will do everything they can to get this resolved asap, they always have.

i feel in no way this is tsp's fault what so ever. when i say "shipper" i mean fed-ex. As of right now i feel that this is fed-ex's mistake. I realize that once tsp sends the order over to comp it is out of their hands. its just that comp is telling me that if i want a new cam, i have to buy another one through tsp and that i will be reimbursed later. i do not have the money for that. im just looking for some guidance from tsp to help me through the situation. i definately dont expect tsp to just ship out another cam at the drop of a hat. i know that people try to pull this stunt all the time. as soon as i hear from fed-ex/comp i will get ahold of tsp. Or if tsp finds anything out i hope they will get ahold of my asap. thanks for everyones time and patience. kevin

well fed ex denided the lost package claim. so now what. i like how it only took seconds to take the money out of my account but now im still sitting here with no cam. and no help from comp or fed-ex
fed ex is telling me that i have to take it up with comp. comp is telling me i have to take it up with tsp.? im definatly getting the run around. (not from tsp) trevor is being very helpful even tho they dont have anything to do with the shipment technically. i just have a gut feeling that im going to eat 400 for this cam. i got into a huge argument with a rep from comp and it got me no where.
isnt there insurance for matters like this?

I'm sorry that this ordeal has taken place. Unfortunately, we expect companies to do their job. We expect FedEx to be able to deliver a package. We are put in a bad position because this camshaft was a drop-ship from Comp Cams via FedEx. We were not the shipper or recipient of the package, so we could not deal with FedEx directly. Since it was a custom-grind camshaft, we submitted the purchase order to Comp to have the cam ground and ship directly to you, the customer. You told me when we spoke this morning that you had talked directly to both Comp Cams and FedEx. You later learned that FedEx denied the claim, and you contacted me to let me know this. I contacted my rep at Comp to discuss the issue, and they put me in contact with one of their customer service reps. I spoke with him, and he said that he was going to speak with his supervisor to see what could be done. When I contacted you to let you know this, you informed me that you had performed a chargeback on us for the purchase. I completely understand that you do not want to pay for something that you did not receive; nobody would want to. However, I really wish you would have given me the full opportunity to help you out. We do a lot of business with Comp Cams, and I realistically expect them to replace the camshaft for you. This is why the matter was taken to a supervisor. If they could not do anything else for us, they would have told me this on the phone. We try our hardest to help our customers in any way possible, but I feel like we did not have the full opportunity. I am going to speak with the customer service rep tomorrow morning at Comp Cams, and I will let you know what he says. However, we cannot have a new cam ship out to you, assuming they replace it, since a chargeback has been initiated.
Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or concerns.
Thanks!

Thank you very much for your help trevor, and amy and everyone else at tsp. I wish i could have waited longer to fix the issue but with the responses i was getting from comp and fedex it was making me feel very uneasy about the whole thing. I still in no way feel that tsp is to blame for this what so ever. i really feel bad having to back charge the order. i wish that the credit card company could have charged fed ex or comp for the mishap instead of you guys. you guys stuck by your word the whole time and never kept me in the dark about anything. again i really appreciate the effort put for by tsp. Unfortunately that was my first order i have ever made from you guys, but believe me it wont be my last. i still plan on ordering the same cam from you guys later on down the road and buying my whole motor setup from you guys. you guys are awesome! keep up the good work. i have no hard feelings about this what so ever. and for whoever reads this. tsp is a great company to deal with, dont let this thread fool you. (was that enough sucking up to get a free 408?). jk. call me tommorow trevor and let me know what comp said. and amy i'll call you tommorow. fed ex gave me the info that you needed.

Remember our conversation about the package could have been shoved back onto the dock? :eyes:
Sometimes shipping companies do not do what they are supposed to unless someone puts the screws to them.
Glad this finally was figured out and resolved.
