I've had it for about 2 hours now. It's notchy. It's a shorter throw than stock. It takes a bit more musclce to shift. But, I like it a lot. Very crisp short throws and is easy to become accustom too. Hope that helps a bit. I did not get a short stick either.

I have one. Went from a B&M ripper to the Pro 5.0. All I can say is the ripper was crap compared to the pro. Im not sure why people say its sloppy feeling because all the ones Ive tried are like holding onto a piece of machinery. Notchy and strong feeling. Very tight while in N. I also had zero noise from mine. If you seal the shifter to the trans housing correctly, you wont get any noise through the shifter.
I also cut some threads off, but I am contemplating trying out the LSS.

Mine was years ago maybe they have changed them since then. The rattle had nothing to do with using rtv to bolt it to trans but with the stick not having any rubber where it connects to the base. And mine was loose feeling. But like said maybe they have changed things in their design.

Pro 5.0, really like it a lot. I've tried going back to the stock hurst, and it just isn't the same. Sure, it will rattle at WOT if you don't put a gasket between the tranny and the shifter base, but with the gasket in place and the shifter stick tightened down properly, it won't rattle at all. It is a little notchy, but I think that's just the nature of our T-56's. I'm running the shifter with the regular stick cut down ~1 inch and the stock hurst ****. Couldn't be happier.

I put my 5.0 in last night with the stock stick not cut. I missed 3rd 4 out of 5 tries. I am not impressed. I had a stock hurst before with the long *** stick and I was banging gears like no tomorrow.
Stock hurst may be going back in with a short stick.

I have had mine for 4 years and love it with the speed inc short stick. I then changed my stock **** to a ball type **** and it even made the leverage shorter and worked to my advantage.

i bought my z28 used and i as very surprised how well the stock hurst shifter worked. the shift **** has an "H" on it so i assume its an optional hurst. however, it came with skip shift eliminator, a whisper lid, and a hooker catback. maybe i have the pro 5.0? anyway i could tell for sure?

I had one a few years ago and took it off and put the stock hurst back on after a few months. It was too noisy and it didn't recenter itself like it should have. I found out that you can put better springs in it after I took it out and sold it so I never tried that. My friend has a hurst billet plus and if I were to ever get another shifter I would get one of those. It's a hell of a lot quieter and shifts just as good as a 5.0. I think a shifter is a waste of money anyway that would be better put towards a cam or something that will make a difference.

theres not a "better" shifter
Its personal prefrence, try them see what you think.
I have a pro50. its notchy. But WOT hammering I love it.
Then were customers that like there stock, over other shifters that have had its a joke, they way I think it feels? but its your car.
The pro50 was weird at 1st. and 90% of the noise is you have the stops set to close, and there raddling on the handle. back them off for a little gap is most of that.

I had issues with my pro 5.0 as others. Sloppy, notchy and just crap. Put my stock hurst with lou's stick and very happy. I still want to try some different springs. I think myself with others who have problems are because of bad springs.

I ran the 5.0 for several years then had a short experience with the b&m. The feel from the 5.0 was much better imho. I love that notchiness, you know it's in gear, and it's hard to miss shifts with in the first place. I don't mind the noise, it's the nature of our cars as it is.
