Default Headers

I'm a little confused about getting headers. What do all the measurements mean? Can I get any header as long as it is for the year my car is, or is how my exhaust is set up play into what kind of header I can get?

If it helps, I'll probably get true duals to go along with it.

Are the JetHot 1-3/4" stainless steel headers any good?

Where can I find Hooker headers?

The 1 3/4" is refering to the primaries(the pipes that lead from the heads down to the collectors[where all the primaries merge]). Usually the collector measurement is 2.5 to 3". Be careful not to get shortie headers if you're looking for longtubes. Also be aware of what type of y-pipe you'll need(slip fit, 3bolt flange, ball type). I'm sure one of the sponsors on this site carries hooker headers. If not, try Summit or Jegs. I hope that helps.

Be sure you are aware of emissions regulations in your state. If you have the smog test and you don't run CATS, good luck passing inspection.

Yeah, jet-hot coated headers are nice. Coated headers don't look as bad or corrode(sp) as fast. I had my coated pacesetters for over 2 years and they still looked really good. Yet I had some uncoated hedman's that went rusty after a few weeks.

I've had great experience with my Jet-Hot ceramic coated headers for the past 2.5 years since I bought them. The coating is still in great condition. Some surface rust forming because I live in NY and the roads are still salty in the spring from the previous winter. I will send them back to Jet-Hot this winter to have them re-coated for free under their 3-year warranty. I'd highly recommend them.

I bought mine from LM Performance 2.5 years ago and shipping was fast. Same price at $499.99. They also have all the higher temp. Jet-Hot coatings available for $20, $25 or $50 extra.

so what was the difference in power per dollar between the 2 brands?

Pacesetter equals more money in the pocket for other mods.

3 year coating warranty for $40-50 more. You be the

P.S. On a side note my daily driven (5k miles per year) '99 Camaro Z28 has Jet-Hot headers. No chipping of the coating whatsoever. My buddy has a '98 Trans Am that is a garage queen and maybe sees 500 miles per year at most. His Pacesetter headers are starting to chip and they look like **** (hence Paceshitter). If the difference between $400 to $450 is too much for you then you shouldn't be modifying the car in the first place. You have to pay to play and you get what you pay for.

FYI: For $800-900 you can get stainless steel 1-7/8" primaries form Kooks and be done with it even if you get a larger cubic inch motor.

does that $450 include y-pipe?
Jet-hot coated headers are hit and miss with longevity of coating just like the pacesetters are!
lol @ pay to play! good looking show car headers dont win races. $ does.
just cuz i barely have over 100 posts doesnt mean i'm a newb to racing!

point is you can have a 100% complete exhaust for cheap with money too blow on other mods (sticky's, suspension, list goes on and on) and beat the guy next to you who spent the same amount on exhaust only.

i am a tad envious of you, my last 11sec Z was black hardtop 6spd/12bolt. now i drive a white T roof A4...just not the same.

+1 on that.. I was going to save up some cash for those exact headers then had a local LS1tech member put a set up for sale with an ORY for a great price so a grabbed them and I'm installing them now! I'd rather spend more and get something SS from a good company to you know it will last and fit on perfectly.
